Tell Me Your Favorites!

I've read through many books this year, and I have read most of a few books and a little bit of a lot of books. The stack next to my bed (and archive on my Kindle) reveals my literary travels of the past twelve months. Trust me, I'm no egghead and my memory isn't what it used to be, but I believe my life is richer, my walk with God is stronger, and I'm (hopefully) a smitch wiser than I was in January because of what I've read.

But I'm not going to tell you what I read - at least not yet. I want to know what your favorite books are, particularly what you've read this year that you've enjoyed, and even what books you might have in the hopper waiting for their pages to be turned.

Bring on the raves and recommendations!

Wow, now that I look back, it seems I "dippped into" books more than I read whole volumes. The shame.

Dipped into:
Knowledge of the Holy, Tozer
Irresistable Revolution, Shane Claiborne
Biblical Counseling, MacArthur/Mack
Trusting God, Even When It Hurts, Jerry Bridges (wonderful book..this was a re-read)
The Practice of the Presence of God, Brother Lawrence
The Wit and Wisdom of Abraham Lincoln, James Humes
The Promise, Robert Morgan (also a wonderful book, also a re-read)

Read the whole thing:
1776, David McCullough
Getting Rid of the Gorilla, Brian Jones
Abide, Jared Wilson
(oh, and I may have read a Clive Cussler book or 2 this summer...may have been last summer...can't remember...is that bad?)

Currently reading:
Gospel Wakefulness, Jared Wilson

"In the hopper:"
Lord of the Rings? (it's been a long time...)
Amazon wishlist is a little loooong...we'll see... :)

I like this idea, Blaine, and will probably do it on my blog. You will tell us your list, right? :)

Thanks Nathan & Chris! Hope to hear from more folks today :)

Chris - I'll be keeping an eye on your blog with my list in hand ;)

BTW-the Lincoln books sounds cool; might have to look into that. And I, too, was giving LOTR some thought earlier this year. Might be time to do that again!
